COACHING SUPERVISION

Coaching supervision is a reflective practice for learning and development. In partnership with a supervisor, coaches examine their coaching work within evolving systems, focusing on patterns, thinking, models, and relationship dynamics. Supervision benefits the coach, their clients, and their organizations and serves as the cornerstone for the integrity and quality of coaching through:

  • Development of the coach through skill building and increased awareness and understanding of how the coach reacts to the dynamics of client interventions
  • Support for the emotional well-being of the coach as they interact with their clients and client systems affected by the stressors of a VUCA environment
  • Attention to sustaining the highest caliber of services offered by the coach, including adherence to ethical practices (ICF Code of Ethics; EMCC Code of Ethics)

What is the Value of Coaching Supervision?

  • Provides a safe, relational space for coaches to reflect on their work for deepening insight and learning as well as to develop the 5Cs.
  • Increases self-awareness and ability to notice blind-spots, self-limiting mindsets, and biases.
  • Deepens insight into client passions and struggles. Foster the capacity to track, and be with, what is most important in every moment.
  • Enhances mindfulness, Coaching Presence, and skills (ICF Core Competencies) through consistent practice.
  • Fosters the ability to focus attention and more closely connect, emotionally and intellectually, with the leaders and the systems in which they work.
  • Expands the capacity for experimentation with alternative coaching approaches by leveraging intuition and imagination to develop collaborative solutions with clients.
  • Develops coaches’ trust in themselves and their capacity to be both courageous and vulnerable. Enhance ability to handle uncertainties and workthrough challenging client situations.

Coaching Supervision with Ken Giglio, Principal of Mindful Leadership Consulting

Ken is an accredited Coach Supervisor with the Coaching Supervision Academy (CSA), and he leads a team of accredited coach supervisors in his leadership role as principal of Mindful Leadership Consulting. Ken is a member of CSA’s International Faculty and contributes to setting Supervision Guidelines as a member of the Center for Excellence for Supervision for the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC).

Ken’s commitment to support both the quality and integrity of coaching work and the overall coaching field led him to develop the Tri-Lens Coaching Supervision Model™ (see below). This signature model is a framework for coaches to reflect on their client work through three lenses: self as coach, relationship with client, and relationship with the system.

In the safe space of Supervision AKA Reflective Practice, either 1:1 or in groups, we strengthen our relationship with ourselves, with others, and with the systems in which we work. The core benefits for coaches, and the leaders they coach, are elevated well-being, cultivated continuous learning, and enhanced ethical maturity. Our work as coaches and leaders depends on us elevating our capacity to be competent and confident, and creative and compassionate with all the people and organizations we serve.

Ken offers coaching supervision for coaches, supervisors, and mentors at all levels of experience, both 1:1 and in groups. Please contact us for more information on coaching supervision opportunities and events with Ken.

The book has 18 chapters; Ken Giglio, Principal of Mindful Leadership Consulting, wrote one chapter: “Supervision in Globally Challenging Times.” He co-authored another chapter in the book along with executive coach Lynne De Lay: “A Framework for Group Presence in Group Coaching Supervision.”
