Pace and Prioritization

By Ken Giglio, Principal of Mindful Leadership

Prioritization is a challenge for every organization. What gets done, in what order, and by who are forever questions – the ones that keep getting asked over and over again at all company levels. What can be lost in the questions is the role pace plays with prioritizing work.

Leaders too often assume that because something is a top priority, it needs to get done at top speed. The reality is that the most important projects need a more moderate pace to engage a wide variety of stakeholders across an enterprise.

In organizations, top priorities need time to unfold and develop and allow for full engagement with relevant stakeholders. It is up to their leaders to set this pace.
