Interests, Not Agendas

By Ken Giglio, Principal of Mindful Leadership

“I may not be an interesting person, but I have a lot of interests,” a friend quipped. Self-deprecating humor aside, this friend is among the more interesting individuals I know. They are curious about people and things and how things work. They engage others with questions rather than opinions, and they look to learn from those around them versus pushing their point of view.

These great qualities create a relationship that is more about interests than agendas. Think about the environment you work in, and your leadership role, and ask yourself – how can I focus on common interests versus pushing for and against agendas?
